Allium proliferum
 
Also called Walking Onion. A cross between a standard and a Welsh onion.
 
Cold hardy to zone 3. Perennial allium that is both edible and attractive.
 
Tasty cooked like green onions or used fresh in salads, thinly sliced. Dies down in areas with colder winter temperatures, then comes back in the spring. 
 
We offer two ways to start your own onion patch: bulbils and plants.
 
Bulbils are pea-sized "seeds" that form at the top of the onion are an easy way to propagate several Egyptian Walking Onions.
 
Plants give you a headstart if you want to speed up the process. You can collect bulbils from mature plants in the future to expand your patch.
